The Social Council of the UPV recognizes academic excellence and innovation in its XXIII Awards
The Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) celebrated the twenty-third edition of the Social Council Awards, an event that values talent, innovation and dedication of students, teachers, research staff and entities linked to the university.
The event, held in the auditorium of the University, was attended by the regional secretary for universities, Esther Gómez, as well as the dean of the UPV, José E. Capilla, and other prominent members of the academic and business community.
The president of the Social Council, Mónica Bragado, closed the ceremony with a speech in which she highlighted the university community’s commitment to excellence and progress. Bragado stressed in her speech that the “real reward for our efforts is not in material achievements, but in the legacy we leave behind through the people we help to grow and develop”. For his part, the dean of the UPV, José E. Capilla, referred to this event as “a celebration of talent, excellence, innovation and social responsibility, that is, the characteristics that best define the UPV”.
This edition highlighted the importance of recognizing and rewarding individual achievements and the collaborative spirit of the UPV, which leads the U-Ranking 2024 as the best university in Spain in teaching, research and innovation.
Awards in several categories
Thirteen of the awards were given to the best students from the different schools and faculties, rewarding both their academic career and their personal attitude. Juan José Moragues Terrades, from the Department of Construction Engineering and Civil Engineering Projects, was also recognized for his teaching career.
In addition, the University Research Institute ICITECH was awarded as the Best Research Structure at the UPV; the Master’s Degree in Propulsive Systems for Sustainable Mobility, as the Best Official Master; and, likewise, the Doctoral Program in Food Science, Technology and Management, and the AIMPLAS Chair, as the best Chair at the UPV.
The Area of Information Systems and Communications (ASIC), for its New App Project miUPV with integrated virtual card, was awarded in the category of Innovation in Management. Similarly, the UPV Ambassadors Network and the Integral Plan for Student Support, in the category of Improving Knowledge of the UPV.
In Social Responsibility, the FISABIO Foundation and the UNESCO Forum University Chair were recognized for their contributions to public health and the protection of cultural heritage, respectively.
The award for Cooperation in R&D&I was given to the BEGAS Group, while NTT DATA was recognized for its support of internships and employment.
