Researchers Jordi Payá, Vicky Borrachero, José Monzó and Lourdes Soriano, together with Lucía Reig from the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, Mauro Tashima from the Universidade Estadual Paulista de Brasil and Chris Cheeseman from Imperial College (United Kingdom) have been developing different investigations on the use of ceramic residues in the manufacture of new cements. The award recognizes the works related to the use of brick and porcelain waste in the manufacture of alkaline-activated cements that do not contain portland cement.
These are cements with a lower carbon footprint and that allow the reuse of waste generated in large volume both in industrial processes and in the construction and demolition of buildings.
